Dustin Kirkman’s Responses to the Voter Guide Questions

1. Will you support schools removing violent students from classrooms?

Absolutely, Safety is paramount for all of our students.

2. Will you support academic success of students as a high priority for school policies?

I am a former educator myself, I not only believe in academic success but would include the need to prepare students for life after high school. I am happy to go into that further if you would like.

3. Will you support separating students in sports competitions, locker rooms, and bathrooms by biological sex?

Currently this is not a problem at Ozark. Nor should it ever be. It’s really a shame that it’s even become a topic of concern. Boys and girls need to remain in their respective programs, locker rooms, and bathrooms and that is and should always be based on their biological sex.

4. Do you support school policies and instruction that teach children they can choose their own gender?

The job of the school district is to keep students safe, educate them, and prepare them for life. It’s not the job of the school district to indoctrinate them. I don’t believe this is a current problem at Ozark, nor should it ever be.

5. Will you support public transparency measures including but not limited to publicly available online reports showing school expenditures?

That’s a great question. Having been in public education I can tell you there are certain legal regulations you have to follow. I believe the school board needs to be as transparent as possible without opening the school up for costly and unnecessary litigation. It’s what you elect the school board to do

6. Do you agree that parents have the right to be informed of Their child’s social, mental, and educational needs?

Another great question. Parents 100% have the right to be informed about their child. It’s the very foundation of being a parent!
